Expect an answer
I recently had a coaching client who was getting frustrated because she just couldn't seem to land a job as a Junior College Counselor. She had a great resume, had done research on the college, networked to find somebody who could get her resume into the "right" hands. She was frustrated and desperate. In truth, being a Junior College Counselor wasn't her heart's desire. It was what she thought she should do to get a paycheck. Her mind was telling her to apply for the position and her heart was calling her elsewhere.
I asked her if she was ready to try a new approach to finding a satisfying new job and immediately she said she was. Here's the idea I offered for her consideration.
Think of a question… maybe something like "What type of job will bring me the most joy and satisfaction?" or "Where can my gifts and talents be best utilized for the highest good of all concerned?" Hold the question in your mind and then EXPECT an answer from the universe. It may come in terms of synchronicity… meeting somebody who knows somebody, reading an article in a magazine or hearing a radio broadcast. Just know that you WILL RECEIVE an answer to your question. Don't get attached to the form it comes in or the timing. Just trust that you will get an answer if you really want one. When that question is answered, just formulate another one. Don't answer it with your head…listen to your intuition and act on that.
I used the process to find both of my apartments in AZ, to get a consulting assignment at Right Management as well as position as an HR manger and to manifest other things in my life. It's putting spiritual principles to work for you and getting out of your own way so your higher self can make things happen. If what you want is in alignment with right thought, belief, intention and action, results do manifest and the quality of your life improves.
Even when things haven't happened the way I wanted them to, they always did happen the way that made me grow the most psychologically and spiritually and, since that's what I say I really want, my true prayers are always answered. The more I let go of doubt, worry and trying to control outcomes, the easier my life becomes and the more I'm in the flow of universal energy/abundance.
When I forget that I'm one with spirit and let my ego take charge, that's when times are the most difficult for me. If I'm worried or anxious the "Law of Attraction" brings me more things to worry about and that just increases my stress level, blood pressure and decreases my happiness. The more I ask questions, "let go and let God," and trust that God's plans for me are much better than my own, my life is more harmonious and I'm more comfortable. The key is that I have to first be willing to let go of trying to force things to happen and be patient so I can allow something even better to manifest. I still have some challenge with the "being patient" part of the equation but I know the end results are worth it.
By the way, my client who wanted to land a job as a college counselor didn't get that job — she got one that was much better and more in alignment with her values, skills abilities and personality. She now knows the power of asking open-ended questions, allowing answers to appear and then taking action based upon her intuition rather than what her head/ego tells her to do.
