The Power of Laughter.

In the last few month's I’ve been trying to identify what’s unique about me and how I can share that special talent with others. Last night I listened to webinars hosted by Jim Self and Jo Dunning and am in awe of their talents, passion, knowledge and huge hearts. I'm in awe of their insights, their presentation skills and their willingness to be their authentic selves. Up until today, I’ve had two unanswered questions that keep showing up during times in my life when I'm ready to make positive changes: What’s unique about me? What are my contributions to the group as well as the planet? Laughing on the calls provided me with an answer that was so obvious that I overlooked it and took it for granted.

Laughter makes me unique. I’ve always been told that I have a great sense of humor, have a laugh that’s contagious and brings sunshine wherever I go. That’s just who I am and what I do. For some reason, up until today, I didn’t think that was enough. I equated my contribution based on what I did rather than on who I am. That shifted big time today.

So, as soon as I got off Jo Dunning's call,  I did an activity that I often do with clients. I tossed up for review all the words, ideas and thoughts associated with my ability to laugh.Below  I've listed the ideas that popped into my mind, in no order, with the intention that they help you to take time to identify and accept  your greatness.

  • I am grateful for my ability and willingness to laugh and play – NOW!
  • I enjoy laughing and laughter.
  • I have a quick mind and can see the humor in things.
  • I inherited my belly laugh and love of puns. My mother has a wonderful and deep laugh (that she rarely allowed to surface when I was young but, when she did, I felt her unspoken love.)  My dad had a wonderful way with puns. I’m a blend of the two and I’m grateful.
  • I no longer have to quiet my laughter to please others.
  •  I am of service by laughing my heartfelt-laugh because it brings joy into situations.
  •  When I laugh,  I make others laugh or bring “light” into a situation and thereby experience the joy of my soul purpose.
  • My intuitive abilities and “feeling nature” are wonderful qualities. To be able to laugh, you have to be able to feel and I do that extremely well.
  • To be able to create a pun or a joke, you have to be able to compress an idea into a few words. That’s a gift. I’ve always been able to “net out” complex ideas – making them understandable to others. In the past, I thought that being simple was bad and being complex was good. I now know neither is good or bad. They are situational.
  • I’m an earth angel bringing heaven to earth through laughter.

Then I began to channel the following message.

Stop trying to fit in. Stop censoring or feeling guilty about your loud, jolly belly laugh. It’s your gift. Use it. It makes you feel better and that makes other’s feel better.

Stop trying so hard and being so competitive and judgmental about yourself. Just be your unique self and share your empowering laugh with others – just because it feels good, not to make anybody “better.”

It’s about you being fully present and the best you can be. Others are responsible for their own happiness.

It’s not about what you do, your title or you, bank balance, etc. It’s about how you experience and express your humanness both with tears and laughter.

Time for tears is over. It’s now time to come out and play and to find your playmates. Joining together with joy and laughter will change the world.
